Thank you for viewing the Web Pages of Bob Blackwell. Here you will find a collection of pictures, diagrams and electrical/electronic circuits associated with construction of the AFTICA Railroad, a room and layout being built for the sole purpose of accommodating a digitally controlled, N scale free lance model railroad.I became hooked on the hobby in November 2000 when my brother showed me his new DCC system. Until then my hobbies included computers and electronics, but not model railroad. Having witnessed the actions performed by his new toy, my excitement grew as I pondered the possibilities. Computer controlled trains, what a concept! Once committed to the idea of a computer running model railroad trains, a place to build a layout was needed. Although several areas within the house were considered, most weren't suitable for the size of layout that I had in mind. Huge! Following extensive consultation with the head of the household, it was agreed that a room could be constructed in the basement. After all, the space down there hadn't been occupied much since we moved in eight years ago. I hope you enjoy your visit and benefit from information presented here. Feedback is encouraged and welcome. Comments may be forwarded to the Chief Engineer of AFTICA Railroad by clicking here. |
